At Albergo for Backpackers we care about our community. We  believe in structural help and in the principle to help people to help themselves. In case you want to make a donation to any of the organisations mentioned below you can always send us an e-mail or give us a phone call.

Sponsor a Child:

After speaking with Tracy Meintjes from the Ocean Blue Adventures ORCA foundation we decided to sponsor children through the "Sponsor a Child" organisation. This organisation is all about educating the children and by that ensuring a better future for the children of South Africa.

Currently we are sponsoring two children. This is a long term commitment because it doesn't help to just sponsor a child for a month. Sponsoring a child should be done for several years.

Masizame Childrens Shelter:

In our reception we have a collection box for the "Masizame Childrens Shelter". Guest can make a donation by puting money in the collection box.

General:

As a backpackers hostel in Plettenberg Bay we have made the choice to stimulate the use of  local business as much as possible.

For Food we send our guests to buy food from the local shops in Plettenberg Bay or to go out for dinner in one of Pletts fantastic restaurants.

Activities are best left in the hand of professionals and we have many in Plettenberg Bay. The owners of the local activities in Plett are all full time professionals having a passion for their activity and our industry in general.

Transport is entirely done by a local taxi company.

One of the big advantages is that the transport is fully licensed.

Although we sometimes work together with other taxi companies it is Gert Willemse from "Bright Ideas Tours and Transfers" who does the majority of our transport.

We have asked other backpackers in Plettenberg Bay to follow our example and start making use of local taxi companies as well.
